The scriptural qualifications for a Deacon are outlined in 1Timothy 3:8-13.
In accordance with church by-laws, Deacons at Oliver’s Grove must be over twenty-one years of age; have been members of Oliver’s Grove at least two years; and have attended church at least once in the last 6 months.
Please keep in mind the scriptural qualification, as you prayerfully consider our nominees.
On September 17h, we will pass out ballots, in which you may vote for three (3) Deacon nominees. The three nominees receiving the most votes will be asked if they are willing to serve a three-year term. If the person cannot serve the next person with the most votes will be asked, etc. The top three nominees receiving the most votes and willing to serve will be ordained, if needed, and will begin their three-year term on October 1.
Absentee Voting
If you cannot attend on September 17th for the vote, you may obtain an absentee ballot from Pastor David Brantley. He is often at the church each day, or you can see him on Sunday.
Your absentee ballot must be signed, dated, enclosed in a sealed envelope, and returned to Pastor Brantley BEFORE the September 17th vote.
Should you have questions, please contact Don Earnest, Todd or Barbara Lee, Ronnie West, or Kathryn Brantley.
PLEASE NOTE:
Deacon Ron West is up for re-election, even though he is rotating off on 10/1. In accordance with church by-laws, Ron was eligible to back-fill a Deacon resignation occurring 2022. As a result, he is eligible for immediate consideration as a Deacon nominee for this cycle.
